Video Transcript

Hey everyone, and welcome back to our channel! Today, we’re going to learn how to describe people like a native speaker. It’s super easy, I promise.

Let’s talk about hair, eyes, and height.

First, for hair and eyes, we use the verb “have” or “has.”

For example, I can say, “She has long, brown hair and blue eyes.”

Or, “They have short, curly hair.” Notice the order?

We usually say length, then style, then color. So, it’s long, curly, brown hair, not brown, long, curly hair.

Now for height, we use the verb “be.”

So, you’d say, “He is tall,” or “She is short,” or “I am medium height.”

Let’s put it all together! “My friend is tall. He has short, blond hair and green eyes.” See?

Simple! Study the lesson below and practice describing your friends and family.

Thanks for watching.

⭐ Pro Tip: The Order of Adjectives

In English, when we use multiple words to describe something, we must follow a specific order. This applies to hair, clothes, and even objects!

1. SIZE (Length) ➔ 2. SHAPE (Style) ➔ 3. COLOR

When do I use a comma?

🧾 Usage Tip: Blond, Blonde, or Blondie?

They sound very similar, but they are used differently!

  • Blond: Adjective for hair color. Neutral for men/women. “He has blond hair.”
  • Blonde: Often used specifically for women, especially as a noun. “She is a blonde.”
  • Blondie: An informal nickname for someone with blond hair.
Note: Blondie is also a vanilla dessert bar and a famous rock band!

👉 Pronunciation:

Blond/Blonde = /blɑːnd/ (1 syllable).

Blondie = /ˈblɑːn.di/ (2 syllables).

Example: “She has _________ hair. She has ______ eyes. She is ________.”

2. Guess Who?

Describe a person in your class or a famous person. Your partner must guess who it is!
