This lesson will teach you how to describe your home and what is inside each room! We will use the grammar point There is / There are to talk about things that exist in a specific place.


I. Vocabulary Focus: Rooms and Furniture

It is important to know the names of the places and things inside a home before we can describe them.

A. Rooms in a Home

Room Purpose Example Sentence

B. Common Furniture and Objects

Singular (One)

Plural (Two or More)

II. Grammar Focus: There is / There are

We use There is and There are to say that something exists in a specific location.

Form Use Example
There is / There’s For one (singular) object. There’s a TV in the living room.

There are For two or more (plural) objects. There are three chairs in the kitchen.

Negative and Question Forms

Is there a lamp in the bedroom?
Short Answer ✅ Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t.
