Simple Questions and Answers for the Workplace

In a job interview, the recruiter wants to know about your skills (Lesson 16) and your experience (Grammar Boost). Here are the most common questions and how to answer them.

Q1

“Tell me about yourself.”

Focus on your current status and profession.

A: “I am a marketing professional with a lot of experience in social media.”

Q2

“What are your strengths?”

Use ‘can’ to describe your abilities (Lesson 16).

A: “I can solve problems quickly and I can speak two languages.”

Q3

“How much experience do you have?”

Remember: ‘Experience’ is Uncountable (U).

A: “I have five years of experience in this field.”

Q4

“Why do you want to work here?”

Use Comparatives (Lesson 13) to show interest.

A: “Because your company is bigger and better than other companies in this city.”

Q5

“What are your salary expectations?”

Keep your answer simple and polite.

A: “I am looking for a competitive salary that matches my skills.”

Q6

“Do you have any questions for us?”

Always ask at least one question to show interest.

A: “Yes, how many people work in this department?”
