English A1 – Beginner

1. Lesson Goals

  • Comprehend spoken and written daily routines from various perspectives (I, He, She, We, They).
  • Identify and categorize the use of the Present Simple for different subject groups.
  • Practice question and answer forms in a conversational context.

2. Daily Actions with Amelia Earhart (Narrative & Analysis)

Watch the video below. This narrative highlights the famous pilot’s routine, using a variety of subjects (I, He, She, We, They) in the Present Simple tense.

Script

“Hello! I’m Amelia Earhart. I fly airplanes. I love the sky. Every day, I wake up early. I check the weather. I prepare my flight. I plan my route. I use a compass. I write notes. I always carry my logbook. I never forget my tools. He helps me with the engine. She checks the fuel. We work together. They support my journey. I fly across countries. I see mountains, rivers, and cities. I feel free. I follow my dream. I teach young pilots. I share my story. I say: “Believe in yourself. Learn every day.””

Activity 2.1: Sorting the Subject Groups

Your Task: Listen to Amelia’s narrative again. Place the bolded verbs into the correct column based on the subject who is performing the action. This reinforces the difference between the base form (Group 1) and the -s form (Group 2).

Group 1 (I, We, They) – Base Verb Group 2 (He, She, It) – Verb + -s
I fly He helps
I love She checks
________  ________

3. Simple Present Tense Dialogue (Q&A Practice)

Watch this dialogue between Amelia Earhart and a Traveler. Pay attention to how they use Do for questions.

DIALOGUE SCRIPT

Leo: Good morning! Do you fly every day?

Amelia: Yes, I do. I fly early in the morning.

Leo: That’s amazing. I travel once a month.

Amelia: Where do you go?

Leo: I visit my family in Chicago. My brother works there.

Amelia: Nice! What do you usually do before every flight?

Leo: I pack my bags the night before. What about you?

Amelia: I check the weather. I plan my route. I prepare my flight.

Leo: Sounds like a lot of work.

Amelia: It is! I prepare everything carefully. Safety comes first.

Leo: I like that. You follow a routine.

Amelia: Yes, I do.

Activity 3.1: Listen and Repeat (Fluency Practice)

Now that you’ve watched the conversation, it’s time to make the language your own. Repetition builds fluency.

  • Listen to the dialogue again.
  • Pause after each sentence.
  • Repeat aloud — match the rhythm, pronunciation, and verb forms.
  • Practice until the sentences feel natural and automatic.

4. Teacher’s Routine Review: Practice and Summary

In this final video, your teacher (Mary) models the daily routine verbs you learned in Lesson 7. Listen to her sequence the actions using First, Then, etc.

Activity 4.1: Routine Transformation Challenge

Your Task: The teacher describes her routine using I (e.g., I wake up, I brush, etc.). Now, imagine you are telling a friend about the teacher’s routine.

Rewrite the sentences using She. Remember to use the correct Present Simple form (add -s or -es to the verb) as necessary!

  • I wake up at 7:00 a.m. → She wakes up at 7:00 a.m.
  • I brush my teeth. → She ________ her teeth.
  • I have breakfast. → She ________ breakfast.
  • I go to work. → She ________ to work.
  • I come home. → She ________ home.
